A 22-year-old female student of the Delta state polytechnic, Ozoro region of the state, Gift Oloku, has been hacked to death by her boyfriend for breaking his iPhone during a misunderstanding.
The incident happened at Etevie quarters in Ozoro, Isoko North local government area of the state on Saturday, July 16, 2022.
It was gathered that the boyfriend identified as Godspower Adegheji, hacked the deceased to death with a machete.
Spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Bright Edafe, while confirming the incident in a statement on Sunday, July 17, said the Adegheji has been arrested.
According to Edafe, Adegheji killed the Gift after she mistakenly broke his iPhone while they were fighting.
The police spokesperson stated that, “This is Godspower Adegheji of Etevie quarters Ozoro.
“He killed his girlfriend, identified as Gift Oloku in Ozoro using a machete after she mistakenly broke his iPhone 11 pro max while they were fighting because she went out without telling him.
“However, he has been arrested by police operatives.”
Trouble started on Saturday night, July 16, when Adegheji accused the deceased of infidelity after she went out without telling him, and a fight broke out between them, leading to her death.
Adegheji took the corpse to the state general hospital on Sunday morning, July 17, where the victim was confirmed dead.
A source said, “Adegheji hacked his girlfriend to death with machete. People said he was influenced by hard drugs because he didn’t run away after killing her, instead, he rushed her to a general hospital.
“I just confirmed that the deceased is a student of the school, but her boyfriend is not,” the source added.
